Seg\u00fan los autores, estos mecanismos no est\u00e1n completamente contemplados en las proyecciones clim\u00e1ticas actuales. Al incorporarlos, estiman que el calentamiento global podr\u00eda ser hasta un 30 por ciento mayor hacia 2100.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El paper, publicado en <a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/1748-9326\/ae9e24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Environmental Research Letters<\/a>, plantea que, a medida que el planeta se calienta, <strong>el permafrost \u2013capa de suelo congelada\u2013, los incendios forestales, los humedales y las aguas dulces comienzan a liberar sus propios gases de efecto invernadero<\/strong>. Estos se suman a las emisiones ya generadas por la actividad humana y elevan as\u00ed las temperaturas de la Tierra.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El <strong>permafrost <\/strong>contiene una gran reserva de carbono org\u00e1nico del suelo que permaneci\u00f3 congelada durante miles de a\u00f1os. Al descongelarse<strong>, los microbios descomponen esa materia org\u00e1nica y liberan di\u00f3xido de carbono en las zonas secas del suelo o metano en las zonas m\u00e1s h\u00famedas <\/strong>y con bajo contenido de ox\u00edgeno.&nbsp;Por otra parte, las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas m\u00e1s c\u00e1lidas y secas permiten que los bosques se quemen con mayor frecuencia, intensidad y extensi\u00f3n. Esa combusti\u00f3n <strong>libera el carbono almacenado en los \u00e1rboles y la hojarasca al aire en forma de di\u00f3xido de carbono.<\/strong> <strong>Tambi\u00e9n, emite metano<\/strong> que proviene de la combusti\u00f3n lenta de la maleza y la turba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-agencia-de-noticias-cient-ficas-de-la-unq wp-block-embed-agencia-de-noticias-cient-ficas-de-la-unq\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"U6QtYMBb4r\"><a href=\"https:\/\/agencia.unq.edu.ar\/?p=38684\">Oc\u00e9anos con fiebre: \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 los mares est\u00e1n cada vez m\u00e1s calientes?<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cOc\u00e9anos con fiebre: \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 los mares est\u00e1n cada vez m\u00e1s calientes?\u201d \u2014 Agencia de Noticias Cient\u00edficas de la UNQ\" src=\"https:\/\/agencia.unq.edu.ar\/?p=38684&amp;embed=true#?secret=YNu24mMaIU#?secret=U6QtYMBb4r\" data-secret=\"U6QtYMBb4r\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>En los humedales, los microbios descomponen la materia vegetal muerta y producen metano,<\/strong> y esta emisi\u00f3n es cada vez mayor porque las temperaturas c\u00e1lidas aceleran este proceso. <strong>Algo similar ocurre en las aguas dulces, <\/strong>donde la actividad microbiana en los sedimentos se agiliza debido a que los lagos, estanques y r\u00edos se calientan, y se libera el mismo gas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si bien en la ciencia se conoce desde hace tiempo que hay ciclos de retroalimentaci\u00f3n que intensifican a\u00fan m\u00e1s el impacto de la contaminaci\u00f3n derivada de la quema de carb\u00f3n, petr\u00f3leo y gas, <strong>las emisiones procedentes de fuentes naturales no se tienen en cuenta en las proyecciones clim\u00e1ticas.<\/strong> En el paper, los autores advierten: \u201cLas emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero inducidas por el calentamiento de fuentes naturales son una gran <strong>retroalimentaci\u00f3n amplificadora que la mayor\u00eda de los modelos clim\u00e1ticos a\u00fan no representan. Esta ausencia conlleva el riesgo de una subestimaci\u00f3n sistem\u00e1tica del calentamiento futuro proyectado<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El equipo cient\u00edfico prev\u00e9 que <strong>las emisiones de fuentes naturales aumenten el calentamiento global entre un 20 y un 30 por ciento para finales de este siglo. El escenario m\u00e1s optimista, detalla el informe, prev\u00e9 que el aumento de la temperatura alcance un m\u00e1ximo de 1,8\u00b0 respecto a los niveles preindustriales. Otros escenarios apuntan a un calentamiento superior a los 2\u00b0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En este escenario, el calentamiento global no depende \u00fanicamente de cu\u00e1nto di\u00f3xido de carbono y metano emitan las actividades humanas. A medida que aumentan las temperaturas, tambi\u00e9n pueden intensificarse procesos naturales que devuelven m\u00e1s gases de efecto invernadero a la atm\u00f3sfera.
